There's still time to get a flu shot
ROCK COUNTY The bad news: The first case of the flu reported in Wisconsin is that of a school aged child from Kenosha County. The good news: Rock County Health Department Nursing Supervisor, Janet Zoellner, says state health officials did a good job predicting at least one of the flu strains active this season. She says the type "A" strain found in the child is one covered by this year's flu vaccine.
Many people believe that once the flu hits, it's too late to get vaccinated. Zoellner says that's not true, and they have plenty of vaccine available as well.
In addition to getting a flu shot, Zoellner says eating properly, getting plenty of sleep, and washing your hands a lot, can help you avoid the flu bug.
If you have questions about where to go to get a flu shot, call the Rock County Health Department.
