WCLO's Steve Benton reports on the latest Habitat for Humanity house in Beloit

RSS

— The latest "Habitat for Humanity" house in Beloit took three years to build, not because it was difficult, but because Beloit College students used their spare time to build it.

Sophomore, Amanda Scherer, says they did all of the work except for the plumbing and electrical.

Scherer didn't get involved until this year and helped with the final touches including planting the grass seed. She says each student had their own reason for participating, but says it's mostly about community involvement.

The house, at 1021 Central Avenue, was scheduled to be dedicated Sunday afternoon at two o'clock.

Scherer says students are already planning to build a second house.
