Lake Geneva man accused of bruising, biting son
ELKHORN A Lake Geneva man is accused of bruising and biting his 7-month-old son after police were called to the emergency room at Mercy Walworth Hospital and Medical Center.
When police arrived at the hospital Nov. 5, they observed several injuries to the baby, including bruises and cuts to his head and cuts and bite marks to his back and face, according to the criminal complaint.
The baby sitter told police the baby had the injuries when his father dropped him off.
According to the complaint, Mitchell J. Lewis II, 19, of 1105 W. Main St., No. 301, Lake Geneva, received his son from the baby’s mother about 6:30 p.m. Nov. 4.
Lewis told police he had his son on the bed with him while he was smoking a bong, according to the complaint.
Lewis told police he noticed his son was about to fall off the bed, so he used his elbow to keep him from falling, causing his elbow to hit the right side of his son’s head.
When police asked him about the bite marks on the baby’s face, Lewis told police he likes to “nibble” on his son’s cheeks and he might have “done it a little hard.”
Lewis is charged with child abuse. He also is charged with felony bail jumping because he previously was charged with burglary as party to a crime, and his bond prohibited him from committing a crime, according to court records.
Lewis is scheduled to appear in court Thursday, Nov. 20.

i am the mother of that baby seriously and he has played with the baby biting his cheeks since he was born he didi it to me to never hard and the marks were gone in a few hours the nurses said the scratches couldve been from the fact that i hadnt got a chance to clip his nails and i dont know if he is telling the truth or not so you all can judge him but until you guys can tell me what happened just think about what if some charge was brought like this what would you think if it really was an accident and how would the other feel if it wasnt

we dont need a tangent discussion but i can find research that says marijuana smoke is NOT a carcinogen. in fact seriously read this .gov link....
.
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/article...
.
i didnt say it was ok for the kid to ingest marijuana smoke...i said the worst thing that would happen, from the smoke, is that he would catch a little buzz and take a nap. not ok, but that IS the worst that would happen. you admit there are positives from marijuana smoke. did you find any positives for cigarette smoke?? ive never denied the possible negatives of consuming marijuana, and im aware there are 400ish compounds in marijuana smoke. but ill gladly point out that ALL 400 ARE NATURAL. should i google how many ADDITIVES are allowed in cigarettes, or are you aware??:) if you deleted the source which would you rather have in your childs body?? im sure you will read studies about marijuana use leading to harder drugs. i cant imagine there are studies out there regarding second hand marijuana smoke consumed by a 7 month old. couldnt i use the same argument agains the kid ingesting cig smoke?? that the nicotine will lead him pot...which will lead him to harder drugs?? i will say that pot consumption is worse for the child in how the parent will act as it does cause laziness where cigarette smoking typically does not. but if the discussion is wether its better for a 7 month old to ingest marijuana smoke or cigarette smoke...since its WELL documented how PHYSICALLY addictive nicotine is...and how DEBATABLE the physical addiction of marijuana is...this cat just shouldnt have been left alone with this baby in the first place:)

So I am making an assumption here, but I think the mother knows what he does for "recreation". She is just as much at fault, IMO...
He's definitely got a few strikes on his record. I don't think he'll be seeing his child for quite a while. Hopefully "mommy" will do better next time?

im not sure either about the technical diff tween pot/cigarette smoke...but a quick google search for 'compounds in cigarettes' shows me this...'Some of the compounds found in tobacco smoke include ammonia, tar, and carbon monoxide' or this 'Over 4000 chemical compounds are created by burning a cigarette' and a quick search for 'compounds in marijuana smoke' shows me this....' Marijuana Compound May Stop Breast Cancer From Spreading' or this ' 60 therapeutic compounds in cannabis that are healing agents' or one of the ONLY negatives 'Cannabis smoke contains carcinogens similar to those found in tobacco smoke'. similar...NOT WORSE...the kid(not me:) MAY catch a minimal second hand buzz which would probably just help him nap...but as for the ACTUAL physical effectts of the smoke...ones no worse than the other(accept for the fact that the one that KILLS 400,000+ every year is LEGAL)

Mymaro, I don't know the technicalities between the components of second hand smoke of cigarettes vs marijuana, but I do know that they're both not good for the body. In a sense, yes, I'm saying it's the same.
.
For the record I'm not a parent and never will be. Kids aren't my thing. However, I know I could be a much better parent than those breeders out there who don't even do drugs.
.
Also for the record, I'm not a pot smoker.

I smoked weed... so what?
Bush junior was an alcoholic, and Clinton "DID" the White House whore...
What does any of this have to do with the topic?
At 19 years old, he's still really "wet behind the ears", shoulda probably left the wee one at Gma's house. What does a 19 year old boy know about babies? Obviously, "Mommy" and 'Daddy" aren't together so it was probably a case of "back seat" passion... Didn't think they'd MAKE another life form!!!
Idiot kids... put the little one up for adoption. A much better life for the baby and then Mommy and Daddy can go back to their irresponsible lives!!!

Kid, don't be angry with me. I don't think pot made this man an idiot. I'm quite certain he was one beforehand. I do think that he may not have been forced to "elbow" his son to keep him from falling off the bed if he didn't have a bong in his hand. Again, not the pots fault, the morons. I don't care if someone wants to smoke grass. I do care when it's around a child and had a negative effect on them.

good post trojanvirus. as i said earlier when alcohol is involved we tend to blame the person...and when pot is involved we blame the drug. i am by no means condoning the consumption of marijuana around any minor...nor more than i think its ok to consume alcohol(to the point of intoxication) around a minor.
.
gabby: we should see this as a reason why pot shouldnt be legalized?? ummm the fact that its currently illegal didnt keep it out of this ignrorant parents hands...did it?? do you really think this guy would be...dumber...if pot was legal?? nope. what he did would still be a crime and hed still go to jail. you notice he wasnt ticketed AT ALL for anything to do with marijuana...so one could reasonably assume that if pot was legal THIS WOULD HAVE BEEN THE EXACT SAME SCENARIO. all this story does is show how ridiculous it is that we spend money fighting this 'war on drugs' cuz the drug still gets into the hands of the irresponsible...

"...while I dont think there is anything wrong with smoking a little pot, it is wrong to do it with your baby on the bed with you."
--What about all of the parents who smoke cigarettes around their kids? The only thing wrong I can think of about smoking with the baby on the bed is the fact that it'll be inhaling the smoke too. But isn't that what happens when the parent/relative/whoever is a (cigarette) smoker too?
--Of course this guy is definitely an irresponsible person and the fact that pot was involved is going to give the drug more of a bad rep. Drugs set aside, this guy shouldn't be a parent.
--The pot didn't influence this guy's behavior. That's the difference between pot and alcohol. Most things that people do while drunk, they don't do when sober. Most things that people do when high, they'll also do sober.

gabby, perhaps you got left out of the loop, but the use of POT inhibits one's reaction time and also alters their perception. If he was reading and used his elbow, then it would truly be an accident. But to know that you are in charge of the safety and well-being of someone as helpless as a newborn and knowingly sit there and smoke it - sheer irresponsibility and stupidity.

It is wrong to smoke around your children. I stopped when I got pregnant and haven't touched it since. Yes I miss doing it sometimes but my daughter is FAR more important to me. I just think the 'anti-pot' bloggers will see this and say 'hey this is why pot shouldn't be legalized!' This guy is a low life and I hope the child's mother does something about his visitation rights.

What would you be writing if he was reading a magazing and used his elbow? Or maybe holding another child and used his elbow to stop the kid from falling? Granted I think this guy is a low life. But I'm sick of everyone blaming POT. 'oh poor baby, it was the pots fault.' Screw that. If I were to smoke I surely would have dropped that bong to catch my kid. I'm sure he didn't even try to stop it.

What???
I don't know where to begin here. I certainly hope he didn't spill his bong water when trying to elbow his son onto the bed again. There has to be a special place in hell for this kind of stupid.

This definitely isn't going to help thekids case for pot.
