WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on Tallman house budget shortfall

RSS

The Rock County Historical Society is working to find more money to operate the Lincoln-Tallman House.

The Society is hoping to convince Janesville city officials to increase financial support before the final budget vote next Monday night. Historical Society President Duke Ellingson tells WCLO's Stan Milam show the $31,000 proposed by the city falls far short of need. Ellingson says the Lincoln-Tallman House will need more than twice that next year. 2009 will be a big year for the Lincoln-Tallman House. Ellingson says one big event is the 200th anniversary of President Lincoln's birth. Janesville has been chosen by the Governor to host a celebration. Another costly item could be replacing the long time historical society director.

Ellingson is hoping residents will contact the city council members before next Monday night's final vote on the budget.
