Delavan-Darien girls dominate Whitewater; Parkview wins again
Delavan-Darien and Whitewater high school girls basketball teams had a heated Southern Lakes Conference rivalry going last season.
That was not extended into this season. Not only are the schools in separate conferences, but also the Comets (2-0) had little trouble downing the host Whippets, 57-19, Thursday night.
The Comets, who nipped the Whippets two of three times last season—including a regional final victory—jumped to a 32-8 halftime lead.
Alana Cesarz led the defending Southern Lakes champions with 17 points, while Courtney Flood added 15.
Whitewater, now a member of the Rock Valley North, had problems on offense in its season opener. Courtney Trewyn led the Whippets with 10 points.
