Rock County's proposed budget lowers taxes

The first look at the Rock County budget shows the recommended tax rate at $5.38 per thousand.

That's actually a decrease, which is a result of equalized value in the county increasing by 4.62 percent. As he presented the budget proposal to the Rock County Board of Supervisors Thursday night, Administrator Craig Knutson said the county is safeguarding its savings account and rainy day fund. He says some might consider the current environment a rainy day, but it's hard to know whether a hurricane is waiting in coming years.
