Lake Geneva Badger’s bid for an unbeaten season was spoiled Friday night as Union Grove scored a 24-20 upset victory in Southern Lakes Conference football.

The victory dropped Badger High (5-1, 3-1) into third behind Waterford (5-1, 4-0), a 42-21 winner over Elkhorn, and Union Grove (5-2, 4-1). The Badgers and Wolverinesl meet at Waterford next Friday night.

Trailing 20-14, the Broncos scored the game’s last 10 points on a 28-yard field goal by Christian Leedle and a 1-yard touchdown run by Tim Annear.

Annear led the Broncos with 143 yards on 20 carries. He scored two short touchdown runs. Zach Stein added 114 yards on 20 carries.

Badger quarterback Jared Stein carried nine times for 133 yards in a losing effort.

n Waterford 42, Elkhorn 21—Waterford (6-1, 4-0) gained the undisputed Southern Lakes lead as the Wolverines rushed for 494 yards at Elkhorn.

Jacob Dostalek led the rampage, gaining 203 yards on 19 carries. Dostalek had touchdown runs of 12, 4 and 87 yards and concluded the scoring with a two-point conversion run.

Dostalek’s 87-yard scoring run came on the first play after Elkhorn (4-3, 2-2) scored on the opening drive of the second half to cut the Wolverines’ lead to 20-14.

Jayden Hoppe added 141 yards on 11 carries, including scoring runs of 77 and 23 yards.

Eric Bryson threw for 163 yards for Elkhorn, including scoring passes covering 34 yards to Jake Gahart and 26 yards to Ross Olson.

n Delavan-Darien 41, Westosha Central 19—Delavan-Darien went on another offensive rampage as the Comets (4-3) took advantage of Westosha Central's five lost fumbles and evened their Southern Lakes record at 2-2.

Trailing 7-6 late in the second quarter, the Falcons lost their first fumble deep in their territory, allowing Delavan-Darien to take a 14-7 halftime lead.

The second-half kickoff also was muffed by the Falcons. Delavan-Darien quickly turned that into another touchdown, and the rout was on.

Michael Gonzalez threw for 235 yards and one touchdowns, rushed for 97 yards and scored twice in leading Delavan-Darien to its third straight win.

Central's Chris Corkins had 185 yards rushing.
