UWEX tips: Eating healthfully on a budget

As food prices climb, a Rock County UW-Extension dietitian says it is possible to maintain a healthy diet.

Family Living Educator Angela Flickinger says when the economy starts to affect food budgets, some people think eating fast food is cheaper. She says in the long run, it's better to buy healthful food and also save money on doctors' bills.

One key is to know what foods are in season. She says food preservation isn't outdated: more and more people are starting to freeze food while it's in season as a way of cutting costs.
