Centerway crash reroutes traffic and results in power outage
JANESVILLE The Janesville Police Department rerouted traffic on Centerway, between Parker Drive and Milton Avenue, until 7 a.m. today because of a traffic accident that happened at 2 a.m. in the 400 block of East Centerway.
The road was closed to traffic, between Harding and Cornelia Streets, while Alliant Energy crews repaired a utility pole that was hit during the crash, said a police department spokesman.
Pole damage initially resulted in a power outage for 34 Alliant customers. Power was restored to 16 customers within a half hour and to the rest of the customers by 8 a.m., according to an Alliant spokesperson.
Driver David W. Dewey, 20, of 1821 Liberty Lane, Janesville, lost control of the 1993 Dodge sedan he was driving and hit the pole. He was arrested on charges of drunk driving, according to police.
Janesville Fire Department ambulances at the scene checked out Dewey, but he refused to be transported to Mercy Hospital, according to police.
But after Dewey was taken to the police department, he fainted so was taken to Mercy, where his condition was not available this morning.
Dewey also was arrested Oct. 21 on six charges of party to theft and one of party to burglary after a rash of vehicle thefts in the city. He was among three arrested in connection with seven such crimes.

Thank you, gabby06. I received several "hostile" messages from someone regarding my comments on this article. David, I certainly hope that you can get some help before you kill someone's child (or your own) and try to piece together a road map to get on a better path. You are right: you have done dumb stuff. But, at this point, trouble doesn't follow you, you allow yourself to follow the "easy" path of FINDING trouble. There are a lot of agencies that want to help people who WANT TO HELP THEMSELVES. The key is to WANT to change and to then TAKE THE STEPS and make the effort it takes to change your life around. Don't live in the Rock County jail!

mil3~For one where did you go to school? Your whole blog is one run on sentence. Did the police get your name wrong or did you? Now I know first hand about underage drinking. I did a lot of it. I never got caught but that doesn't make it right. I NEVER drove either. If I was going to a party I would not drink. I would only drink at the place I was staying at for the night. Now if your party that you went to got hostile, and you wanted to leave, you should have called someone. Your friend that left you, your parents, call a cab!!!! It would have cost you less than $20 to get home. Now you could go to jail, you'll have to pay hundreds possibly thousands of dollars in fines. When you could have just picked up the phone dialed 411 and asked for a cab company in Janesville. I hope you learn for this mistake and we don't see your name in the paper again unless it is for good deeds.

The kid apparently needs some help davids history with the system started years ago. I dont know what its going to take for people to get the picture that this type of life is deadly whether theirs or someone elses. I wonder if he got another signature bond. I hope the courts can send this kid to a place for help not just warehouse him in some prison or the RCSD hotel on 14. The accident was right in front of my nephews house and they were pretty upset as it woke their little babies with bang of the crash the flashing lights and noise.

He hit a utility pole hard enough to knock power out. It could have, just as easily, been a child on a bike. We'd have a homicide by use of a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Its all "fun and games" till someone gets hurt.
He'll kill someone next time. Lock him up!

How do you jump start a twenty yr. old to start acting his age and become a member of civilized society when he's trapped with a 12 yr. old outlook. These things (theft, owi, etc) are all fun and games so he and his cohorts can party and get the criminal thrill of getting away with it. I might add that for every crime we read about there's many more he hasn't been caught for. He's clearly a human that is incapable of monitoring himself. It's time he spends quality time off the streets, and getting the supervision he desperately needs.
Prison can be that jump start he needs. Or he'll learn more criminal ideas, think he is the brighest criminal, get caught again and we can read some more uplifting stories about him. By the way Dave fainting to create concern for your welfare is an old trick that is clearly beneath your criminal stature. At this point in your career you may want to try, I'm a criminal, and I don't care what you do to me. Once you've exhausted that idea you may be at your true rock bottom and seek help for yourself/ not expect others to fix you. Treatment on your own/ the bible/ whatever floats your sad ship. Good luck..

My other comment was deleted...I don't know why...I am wondering if the vehicle he was driving was stolen, too. After all, criminals like him make me want to turn to a life of crime. Financially, I might do better...and be able to afford to live. After all, 200 E. Highway 14 is a motel where if you're "lucky" enough to live there, you don't have to pay for room or board or anything. The city "neighbors" pay for everything you want, whether you deserve it or not.

Can anyone explain to me why Dewey the degenerate is even out as a member of society after his marvelous history of crime? Are we waiting for him to set a record or something?
