It's the first day of school for students at public schools in Wisconsin, and for the first time that includes many four-year-olds in Janesville.

School District Director of Instruction Services Donna Behn says each community center has its own calendar, so some of the more than 560 students have started in previous weeks. She says the students will learn social skills like interaction, following rules and setting up routines. In part, success of the program will be measured by how well the students perform in later grades.
