Council action aids Beloit projects
Podcast Episode
BELOIT The Beloit City Council this week gave the thumbs up to three agenda items that should have a significant impact on economic development and aid the city's operations.
The first is the purchase of a building that was vacated by Alliant Energy. Beloit City Manager Larry Arft says they were able to buy the building at a favorable price. He says they will move all of the Beloit utilities into the building, and they're considering moving the engineering offices into the building as well. It would also open up some premium space at city hall.
The city will also re-configure Mill Street in downtown Beloit. Arft says it will now run along the northwest side of the post office, and follow the Rock River to Shirland Avenue.
The third item is an agreement to make changes to a new road to Kerry's new international headquarters at the I-90 interchange. The cost of the project is around $300,000 and will be paid for with money collected in the affected TIF district.
