"Clean Sweep" popular in Rock County
ROCK COUNTY If you waited until Thursday to sign up for the "Clean Sweep" program, taking place Friday and Saturday, you were probably told it's too late.
Conservation Specialist with Rock County, Anne Miller, says they were booked up before the sign up deadline.
Miller says the program is set up for residences in the county, with the goal of getting rid of specific toxic or dangerous substances, like mercury. Miller says the popularity of the program is growing, and officials are working on a grant for a permanent program. She says they would like to have it in place by 2010.
All of the information about the "Clean Sweep" program can be found on the county's web site under the heading of the Land Conservation Department.
