Elkhorn tumbles
Location, location, location may be the mantra for the real estate moguls, but it works well in football, too.
Fond du Lac St. Mary’s Springs High School capitalized on field position to defeat Elkhorn, 13-10, in nonconference game Friday night at Elkhorn.
Springs scored on 17-yard touchdown drive after a 35-yard punt return for a 7-0 second-quarter lead. The Ledgers added a two-play, 14-yard scoring drive after returning an Elkhorn kickoff 81 yards in the third quarter.
Elkhorn scored on a Jake Gahart’s 29-yard field goal and Ethan Lockhart’s 9-yard pass reception from Eric Bryson in the fourth quarter.
The Elks’ last drive ended at the Springs 37 yard-line.

n n Monroe 28, Portage 21—Alex Dahmen gained 184 yards on 31 carries and scored two touchdowns to lead the Cheesemakers to their first victory.
Dahmen scored on a 30-yard run to open the third quarter to put the Cheesemakers ahead 15-8 and Josh Popanz scored on a eight-yard pass from Mitch Tordoff to give Monroe a 22-8 lead.
Monroe gained 456 yards on 48 carries, while holding Portage to 125 yards on 27 attempts.

Lengfeld finished with 121 yards on 19 carries, all in the first half. Cory Wipperfurth added scoring runs of 39 and 1 yards in the second half and finished with 97 yards on eight carries.
