Cougar girls win Madison West Invitational cross country
MADISON Janesville Craig High School’s girls cross country team continues to impress this season.
The Cougars won the 16-team title with 101 points here Thursday in the Madison West Invitational.
West, which is ranked fifth in the state in Division 1, finished second with 111.
Craig finished second to Big Eight Conference powerhouse Madison West in the boys team standings. The Cougars had 65, while the Regents won with 40.
“It was another good day for our program,” Craig co-head coach Brian Lawton said. ‘The girls beat a state-ranked team and the boys ran very well in finishing second.
“We’re still pretty early in the season, but we continue to improve each and every meet.”
Craig senior Ryan Ahrens finished fourth in the boys race and teammate Tommy Meister was ninth.
