A federal grant could help promote job growth in Rock County. Lay-off announcements have been all too common recently.

Forward Janesville President John Beckord says his organization and Rock County Government will administer the $450,000 grant from the Economic Development Administration. One goal is to attract more jobs to the Janesville area. That means directly courting businesses to create jobs in Rock county.

The EDA grant is intended to serve as a venture capital resource to meet the economic development needs of distressed communities.
