— A member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church is encouraging churches to come together in support of Janesville’s workers.

Ron Johnson, a St. Peter’s council member, is inviting clergy and interested laity to come to a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter’s, 1422 Center Ave., Janesville.

Johnson hopes churches will put together a letter or petition, asking General Motors to reconsider their plans for the Janesville plant.

“I know it’s a long shot, but we can hope,” Johnson said.

He also hopes the churches will begin to think about ways to help displaced workers from GM and the many other local companies affected by expected closures.

At our church, Faith Community in Janesville, our pastor did a series of sermons titled, "Life after GM." It was a great series and he felt it very important to address the current and upcoming changes involved with GM. He was very aware of how many people in our area are or will be affected by GM's changes and this is not just limited to GM workers.
Please visit the following website for audio downloads of the 8 part series.
