Although Janesville's city council has faced criticism for Monday's trip to Sedona, Arizona, a community leader who joins the council delegation says the visit to the hometown of their city manager choice is normal for a high-level interview.

Mary Willmer-Sheedy, Market President of M&I Bank in Janesville, says she will be sitting in on the council appointments with elected officials in Sedona. M&I Bank also has an office in Sedona, and Willmer-Sheedy says she has business contacts through that office she will speak with as well. She hopes to find out what economic development ideas have worked for Sedona and bring them back to Janesville.

The city is not paying her way for the trip. The council offered the Janesville city manager position to Eric Levitt, pending the results of the visit to Sedona.
