— The next change in the local cable TV channel lineup is scheduled for Tuesday.

Janesville cable TV viewers with analog televisions will find JATV on Channel 98 instead of 12 and the school district's channel on 96 instead of 13.

Similar changes are expected in other Charter Communications markets. The change comes at no additional cost to customers.

For more information on the public-access channel changes in Janesville, call Judi Kneece at JATV, (608) 758-5822.

Charter Communications also recently added public-access channels to its digital tier. JATV is now at 994. The Janesville School District channel is at 993.

Janesville digital customers also can see public-access channels from Milton, Brodhead, Whitewater and other surrounding communities.

Also in this same "public affairs neighborhood" are C-SPAN2, C-SPAN3 and WisconsinEYE.

Some have questioned how long Charter will continue to offer public-access channels in analog format. Charter says a large majority of its customers have digital capability.

Charter spokesman Mike Hill responded to the question last week: "We do not have any future plans to change the analog feeds that we currently have. At some point in the future, technology will drive us to an all-digital platform, but no plans are in the works for that at this time."
