Evansville police officer dies
Evansville Police Chief Scott McElroy announces the death of Lieutenant Arthur Phillips as a result of natural causes Tuesday.
Phillips began as a part-time police officer in Evansville in 1982. He was hired as a full-time officer in 1984. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 1990 and Lieutenant in 1998. Phillips also served as a firearms instructor for the Evansville department and provided training at the Blackhawk Technical College Police Academy.
Among his public service activities, Phillips served as a member of the Evansville School Board, Rock County Board of Supervisors and Rock River Safety Patrol.
Funeral arrangements are pending.
