Incumbents perform well in Janesville elections
Incumbents will be heading back to serve on the Janesville School Board and City Council.
Rock County Clerk Lori Stottler says Janesville voters appear to be looking for stability in uncertain times, and that could be driving the votes for incumbents. Janesville City Council member George Brunner is ready for a third term after receiving the most votes in Tuesday's election. Brunner says the city faces a number of tough economic decisions like renovation of the Lincoln Tallman House. Fellow incumbents Bill Truman and Russ Steeber were also elected, along with newcomer Frank Perrotto.
Perrotto says the economy and growing jobs will be the top priority, but he's also eager to pursue collaboration with other area municipalities.
The Janesville School Board will have one new face as Diedre Richard joins incumbents DuWayne Severson, Greg Ardrey, Peter Severson and Lori Stottler. Richard replaces Deb Kolste, who did not run for re-election. Richard says she has business experience, and experience collaborating with others. One of her priorities is that all students are challenged and given a good educational experience. In the Beloit School Board race both incumbents lost. The three newcomers are Tia Johnson, Missy Henderson, and Jessica Everson. Johnson says it's clear the community wants a change.
