Verona shuts out Parker
VERONA A depleted lineup and two costly errors spoiled any chance for Janesville Parker’s baseball team to pick up a Big Eight Conference victory Thursday.
Verona jumped out to a two-run lead in the first inning and then rode the arm of Trevor Burmeister to a 6-0 win over the visiting Vikings.
Parker was without four starters and could not overcome two errors and two baserunning blunders.
“Verona only got one run via a hit,” Parker coach Brian Martin said. “We gave them the other five.
“And we took ourselves out of a couple of innings with baserunning mistakes. You can’t do that in this league or your going to pay for it.”
The Wildcats got only three hits off two Parker pitchers, but used five walks and three wild pitches to score five runs.
Aaron Jacobson had three hits for Parker (2-4, 1-3), while Trent Kobs suffered the defeat despite striking out eight.
Parker will play crosstown rival Janesville Craig, the Big Eight co-leader, at Riverside Park today at 5 p.m.
“It’s Craig/Parker. Not much more needs to be said,” Martin said. “Craig’s playing very well right now, so we’re going to have to be ready to go from the first pitch.
“We’re capable of playing a lot better than we have the last two days. Hopefully, Craig brings out our best.”

Give me a break Gazette! "Removed by the staff." I did not say anything that was not true...."those that are the quiet, well-deserving kids don't get the credit they deserve"! Anyway -- Great job Trent!

I believe trent deserves a little more credit than just one line, he has had the best start out of parkers pitching yet this year, and he is only a soph. And wow one of your players had three hits, big deal!!! it did not help much with his baserunning errors. Give Your pitcher some more credit!!!!
