As Janesville Parker High School students prepare for Saturday's prom, Rock County Sheriff's deputies prepare for increase patrols through prom season.

Sheriff's Commander Troy Knudson says last year's patrols were successful, and parents are cooperating with the efforts for a "Safe and Sober Prom". He says parents are on the same page that they want the kids to have a safe prom, but enjoy the evening. The Sheriff's Office is increasing patrols throughout May, when Rock County's high schools hold their proms.

Are you all serious?
.
what message are we telling kids?? It's okay to break the law if you experience drama or one night of fun is okay???
.
Wrong is wrong all the time! Parents need to parent that is the biggest reason teens are out of control.

Let us be young and have fun

Be young and have fun because you only have one child hood, but make sure that the fun is still safe and does not cause anyone to get hurt or killed. There is nothing wrong with the police making sure everyone is safe, in fact with the way things are these days as a parent I would feel much better if the police were heavy patroling prom night.

Let us be young and have fun.

I'd like to see a crackdown on the parental enablers who approve the party buses and alcohol and marijuana fueled parties. They are truly good friends to their kids. Lousy parents, but good friends. Notice this is a Rock County announcement, the JPD will continue to look the other way. They know where these parties are.

I can't imagine a sober prom. It's the alcohol that makes it tolerable.

So we are now warning these kids? Thats like playing tag and YELLING YOUR GONNA BE IT AS SOON AS I TOUCH YOU,I know when I was this age I would have appreciated A warning when the police were coming! There is no reason to increase patrols through all of May as this is only 2 weekends and as long as you let the students know whats going on,,,,, They are all gonna devert there plans to be safe and out of law enforcements eyes! What are you people thinking printing this ahead of time?
