— Police say a Brodhead man was intoxicated when he crashed an ATV on Saturday, two days after he was arrested on a charge of seventh-offense drunken driving.

Rodney R. Arnsmeier, 49, was in good condition Wednesday afternoon at University Hospital in Madison after Saturday's crash in the N1800 block of Mt. Hope Road. Arnsmeier was driving a Honda 3-wheel ATV when it overturned in a cornfield about a half-mile south of Giese Road, according to the Green County Sheriff's Office.

The state Department of Natural Resources arrested him on a charge of operating an ATV while under the influence.

At about 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, a deputy stopped Arnsmeier for traffic violations on Mt. Hope Road at Town Center Road. That stop resulted in Arnsmeier's arrest on charges of seventh-offense drunken driving and operating after revocation and a citation for defective taillights, Chief Deputy Jeff Skatrud said.

This is a clear case of First Degree Intentional Impersonation of Sobriety! Now if that charge sticks, it ought to get him some serious time in the Slam. If the Green County DA wants some help from me to make the case, its Pro Bono.

yeah I get being sarcastic can help sometime but with all of the earlier posts it was a little much. I have seen how much and how quickly a Drunk driver can take away. I think it is a selfish childish thing to do. I also think the topic is to heavy to take lightly. I dont understand how anyone can make any kind of a joke out of something like this, thats all. I know a girl who did it once and not only got hurt but will pay for quite a while for it, she also may face some jail time because she had her kids with her. I know a girl who got hit by a drunk driver who will never be the same again because of what happened to her. Yeah the way people are punnished for it is a joke, the topic is NOT.

I have heard that the herd of deer were Smoking CWD at the time. There is supposed to be a documentary with Gaile Anne Hurd narrating it. You can not blame the deer though, with all of the CWD sampling stations in southern Wisconsin, I too have stopped for a sample. As Mr. Food says "Oooo, it's so good!" Especially on Ritz Crackers.

SwissChick: In regards to the snowmobilers vs. deer incident, the blame for the charges being dismissed sits with the prosecutor. One of the charges filed against the three men who tortured the deer was "hunting out of season." The defense attorney was smart enough to know there is a law in Wisconsin that the "hunting" of deer cannot be considered abuse, torture or whatever term you want to use. Thus, if the men were charged with "hunting out of season," they could not be charged with "torturing" the deer. I think the latest action on the case was that the prosecutor was going to file an appeal.

your opinion is more than welcome of course. i agree with most of the comments i see you post. yesterday you told me i come off as immature. i have no doubt. you should meet me in the real world an see just how accurate you are;), im just telling you that when people use humor or sarcasm to make a point an then you say things like 'we all need to grow up' and you blast them for making a joke, even tho its on topic;), well that comes off as you trying to be the morality police. good day. i said good day.

thekid... Thank you, from one stoner to another.
Facebooker... The point I was trying to make is that, while it's ok to voice your opinion in your own way, it's ok for others to voice their opinion in their way and that there is nothing wrong with the way each person chooses to use their voice.
wcm4life... I don't believe that my initial post was in anyway sarcastic.
I do not drink even one drink and drive, but know that there are many that do. I am the first to be the designated driver, but know that there are many that are unwilling to use one. Cracking down is not going to stop those who choose to drink and drive. I am a firm believer in prohibition even though I like to drink myself. If it will stop the accidents and deaths, then so be it.

When I was a sarcastic ..... to my husband for drinking and driving I finally got the point across. Each person handles things differently.

His ex-wife knew what he was all about when she married him. Still can't figure out why she did it.

His history goes back before 2003. He can be a very violent person and then add drinking on it. It's horrible. He's lucky not to be in the big house.

Well . . . he should be now.

everyone deals with stuff in their own way. some people like to use humor or sarcasm to make a point...and some people like to show maturity;) the point is we are ALL welcome in this forum and if someone posts something that you dont agree with...well just dont read it or dont post on it. its not difficult. you are not the morality police. i think you are missing a big point too...the drunk driving and the laws that surround it in this state actually are a joke.

How can this man even have a driver's license? And wouldn't that be driving after revocation on top of the DUI. That is mandatory jail time. And I have to drive on Mt Hope everyday! I can't even imagine driving that road while drunk - if anybody doesn't know its pretty curvy especially at town center.

Thank you wcm4life! I am welcome in this fourm too, isnt that the point of these to debate the issue. I was hopin gto impart some maturity to those who think it is a joke. Its not a laughing matter its not a joking matter its a serious thing that Im sure you would not be joking about if you had watched someone get hurt because of a Drunk driver. Yes I agree our state gives slaps on the hand compaired to some other states. That dosent mean we should joke around about those that are selfish enough to do this even once.

Truth - I also read that the charges against those drunken snowmobilers up north that killed the deer are going to be dropped due to some kind of technicality in the "hunting" laws. (What??) I'm going to have to research a bit. Too many f'ing idiots in the world.

Facebooker- I don't think that anyone means to offend when using sarcasm to vent frustration with the laws of the "great" state of WI. I just feel that it is very ironic that a state that is supposed to be cracking down on drunk drivers lets a person get this many DUIs. Rather then vent the frustration, sarcasm is being used. If this offends you, you are welcome to visit other forums that are less offensive.

Sanity is a relative point when it comes to the law. Read todays Eau Claire Leader Telegram about the 18 year old who wanted to try out his brand new bow on some sheep and horses, see the punishment, and think about wanting to test out your new (removed all possible thoughts for this, due to some chuckle head actually going out and trying it. No animals were injured in the removal of this example!)
