Janesville DNR service center plans to reduce hours
JANESVILLE The Department of Natural Resources Service Center at 2514 Morse St. will reduce hours it is open to the public as part of the cost reductions in the state budget. Starting Monday, counter service will be offered from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.
Questions regarding rules, regulations or other DNR programs may be directed to a toll-free call center from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. seven days a week at 1-888-936-7463. Customers may also visit the DNR’s Web site at dnr.wisconsin.gov or call 1-877-945-4236 at any time to buy licenses. Live online chats are available on the DNR’s Web site from 7 a.m. to 9:45 p.m.
There are also 16 licensing agents in Rock County, including seven in Janesville: Farm & Fleet, Gander Mountain, Harris Ace Hardware, Kmart, Rock County Clerk’s Office, Walmart and Waters Edge Bait & Tackle. Visit the DNR Web site for a complete list.

Why even have it if it's only open 12 hours/week? It seems like a waste of resources to heat the building for the other 144 hours/week that it is closed.

This is a shame ,we are so lucky to have this in Janesville.The gals in the office are so nice an helpful.I have been waiting for this since our lovely Governor mentioned it early this year.Just hope they dont close it down permanently.

Yeah, its kind of cold out. Makes counting deer a real pain.
