Short move for two sex offenders
JANESVILLE Two sex offenders in Janesville’s Fourth Ward moved one block Friday.
Duane A. Huber, 54, and John Sweeny, 56, moved from the first block of South Academy Street south of Court Street to the first block of North Academy Street, Janesville, according to a news release from the Janesville Police Department.
The change was forced because the property owner is foreclosing on the rental building on South Academy Street, Dep. Chief Dave Moore said.
Officers will talk to residents and business owners in the neighborhood, because the department anticipates the new location will be long term for the two men, Moore said. They have lived on South Academy Street since 2005 and 2006, respectively, according to the release.
Huber is a white male who is 5-feet-7-inches tall and weighs 160 pounds. He has brown hair and hazel eyes. He will be supervised by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections until 2021.
Huber was convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a child, according to the release. He assaulted 7- and 9-year-old male acquaintances.
Sweeny is a white male who is 5-feet-11-inches tall and weights 190 pounds. He has brown-gray hair and blue eyes. He will be supervised by the department of corrections until 2011.
Sweeny was convicted of first-degree sexual assault of a child. He assaulted 6-, 8- and 12-year-old male acquaintances.
Both men are allowed in the community to work and participate in activities approved by their probation/parole agents. Parole restrictions for both men include:
-- No contact with minors.
-- No consumption of alcohol or illegal drugs.
-- Life registration with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry, http://offender.doc.state.wi.us/public.
-- Being subject random visits by the department of corrections.
-- Must avoid schools, parks and daycare centers.

How convenient that these slimeball little boy molesters live together. Sounds like they can pack each other all they want now.

The article is incorrect, by the way. 18 S. Academy is between Court and Milwaukee Streets. The landlord has been amenable to sex offender placement for many years, unfortunately for us neighbors.

It all depends on what their offense was, what the state asked for, & what the judge wanted. Some who should have it don't, the ones who shouldn't have it do.

Wondering if anyone has the answer to this question. Why are some offenders released with gps monitoring and some are not? Does it have to do with the degree in which they commited the sex act? I think every single one of them should have it..and their sex organs cut off. IMO anyway.

Most likely the old Mulrooney building. Just a hunch. They say they move them and give a street but no address well IMO opinion Academy is not a short street so do you have your kids avoid the whole N. Academy? At least give a Block number.( 100,200)mostly likely 00 block.
