Madison Memorial wins in Minnesota

When all else fails, turn to your blue-chippers.

That was the strategy for the Madison Memorial High School’s boys basketball team Saturday int the Timberwolves Shootout at the Target Center in Minneapolis.

Division I recruits Jeronne Maymon and Vander Blue combined for 42 points to lead the Spartans to a 67-64 win over Henry Sibley, Minn.

Memorial (7-0) was tied 31-31 at half, but took control in the third quarter behind Blue, a University of Wisconsin recruit, and Marquette University-bound Maymon. Blue, a junior, had 11 in the third and Maymon added nine as the Spartans opened up a five-point lead. Henry Sibley got no closer than three in the fourth quarter.

University of Wisconsin recruit Mike Bruesewitz, a 6-foot-8 junior guard, led Henry Sibley with 20 points.

n Sun Prairie 47, Stoughton 44—Michael Boos made a three-point basket with two seconds left to play to give the visiting Cardinals a nonconference win.

Sun Prairie (5-2) trailed by six after three quarters but outscored the Vikings (4-2), 14-5 in the fourth quarter.

Jordan Noskowiak had 13 points to lead Sun Prairie, while Boos and Sam Marshall added 12 each.

Stoughton’s Skip Gerber led all scorers with 16.
