Debra Hauser, a Clinton native, is one of two finalists for the WIAA position of executive director.

Dave Anderson is the other finalist.

Both are members of the WIAA executive staff—Anderson as deputy director and Hauser as associate director.

The new executive director will succeed Doug Chickering, who will retire July 31 after 24 years in the position.

Anderson joined the WIAA in 1998 after serving as director of athletics, physical education and health at Sun Prairie High School. As second in command on the WIAA staff, his direct responsibilities have included the administration of eligibility issues, football, baseball and wrestling.

Hauser came to the WIAA in 1993 from Darlington High School, where she was the athletic director and a business education teacher. She has been in charge of conference realignment, tournament assignments and planning, and all other administrative duties involving basketball, soccer and tennis.

The WIAA Board of Control will conduct second interviews for the executive director position on Tuesday, Jan. 27, and expects to conclude the search process in February. An announcement on the position is expected in early March, according to board president Kevin Knudson, the Barneveld High School principal.

Along with Anderson and Hauser, the four finalists for the position included Dr. Dominic Madison, Brillion superintendent of schools, and Mark Huenick, assistant superintendent of the Appleton School District.
