Janesville's city government is undergoing a change in philosophy when it comes to customer service.

City Council President Amy Loasching says she's heard specific complaints from citizens about customer service at city hall. She says every council member has heard complaints about departments. She says it's not just one department with a customer service problem, but the city government needs to improve the way it works with the community.

Customer service is also the number one item on a city memo from City Manager Eric Levitt about his expectations for city staff. In the memo, he says he hopes to see employees be responsive, listen in order to understand the concern, and provide people with respect even if the issue cannot be resolved.
