WCLO's Stan Stricker reports on local congressional representatives differing views on the federal stimulus proposal
Two local congressional representatives may disagree on the merits of the current economic stimulus proposal.
An economic stimulus package is expected to reach the new president's desk quickly, but Representatives Paul Ryan of Janesville and Tammy Baldwin of Madison may disagree on its merits. Ryan, a Republican, is also critical of the amount being returned to the American taxpayer. He tells WCLO's Stan Milam Show only 10% of the money goes out the door in 2009, and the centerpiece is a rebate amounting to only $10 a week for individuals, and $20 for couples. Baldwin says congress needs to move quickly, and will open the door for other important legislation including education, health care, and the environment. The measure is moving through the House of Representatives this week.
Ryan says its not worthy the new presidents signature.
