Across the country Wednesday night, volunteers are taking a census of the homeless.
Marc Perry, Community Action's Director of Planning and Development, tells WCLO's Stan Milam Show funding from the federal government relies on the information collected during the homeless count. Volunteers will deliver care packages to the homeless during the street count and help them connect with local services.
The homeless count starts locally Wednesday night with preparation of the care packages at ECHO in Janesville at 9pm. Teams take to the streets for the physical count at 11pm.
