Sheboygan sweeps Janesville Legion

SHEBOYGAN — The Janesville American Legion team has fallen on hard times.

Janesville lost its third straight game Sunday afternoon and its fourth in the last five games after dropping a doubleheader at Sheboygan.

Sheboygan, behind a four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning, won the opener, 6-5. Janesville managed only three hits in losing the second game, 3-0.

“We’re in a little bit of a hitting slump right now,” Janesville coach Ron Pohlman said.

“And it’s not that we played that bad today, but give Sheboygan credit, they played well. Their pitcher in the second game was really tough.”

Janesville (10-8) had a chance to tie the first game in the top of the seventh, but Zach Bayreuther was thrown out at the plate to end the game.

Bayreuther had three hits in the first game, while Brett Fredricks took the loss.

Janesville hosts Kenosha on Tuesday night at 7 at Riverside Park.
