Beloit establishment's alcohol license revoked
The Beloit City Council decides a harsher penalty is needed for an establishment that sold alcohol to underage customers on more than one occasion.
City Council President Jim Van De Bogart says the city's Alcohol Beverage License Control Committee recommended a 30-day suspension for Liberty Quick N Save. Instead, the city council approved a year-long license revocation. Van De Bogart says the complaint indicates there were two offenses in a three week period. The store's representatives were in municipal court for selling alcohol to an underage customer on May 12. The same violation was committed by the same employee eight days later.
Van De Bogart calls it an "egregious situation".
The revocation begins at 12:01 AM on Monday, July 20.
