Rock County's unemployment rate continues to rise. A familiar theme reflected by the latest State Department of Workforce Development unemployment figures.

Unemployment rates increased in each of the state's 12 metropolitan statistical areas in June, compared to May. For the Janesville MSA, the unemployment rate increased .3% to 13.2%. This compares to an unemployment rate of little more than 5% just one year ago. The increase comes despite word from DWD Secretary Roberta Gassman, that the number of jobs actually increased in the state.

The state unemployment rate stands at 9.2%.
