Janesville is on "right side" of GM bankruptcy

The Janesville plant could be in a prime position to start small car production. WCLO's Beth Wheelock reports.

As General Motors identifies the Janesville assembly plant as one of three possibilities for a new line, Mike Sheridan, Assembly Speaker and former UAW Local 95 president, urges caution.

Sheridan says it's not a done deal, and he doesn't want people to set themselves up for disappointment, but Janesville is certainly in a good spot at this point. He says in the next month, a local task force and state officials will do anything they can to secure a new product at the Janesville plant. If that doesn't happen, when the economy recovers, Janesville will still be in "standby" mode or build a new product in the future.
