WCLO's Steve Benton reports the Mid America bank in Janesville robbed Monday has been hit three times since 2003.

RSS

— While Janesville police investigate Monday's robbery of the Mid America bank on Milton Avenue, they're also looking for any reasons this specific bank has been hit three times, by robbers, since 2003.

Janesville police Sgt. Brian Donohoue says they've gone over all of the safety features with employees, and they're following them. He says they've also looked at physical aspects of the building and it's location to see if there's anything that makes it an "easy mark." He says there's nothing obvious that makes it vulnerable.

Police continue to look for a white male suspect, in his mid 20's to early 30's, about 5'11" and 190 lbs, thin build, brown hair and eyes and a dark goatee.

I think they should have your facial image up on monitors on the wall when you go into banks or credit unions....with your image on a screen for everyone to see while your inside. Might deter a would be robber who was casing the place if he saw his image like that.

weeds, you do realize that all banks have a safety first policy? They will ALL hand over the money.

I like the Trashbag comment. It's entirely possible that someone just walked over there from the bar because they were out of money. I used to hang out there, so know the patrons quite well. A very astute observation.

Maybe the tellers should just say no, your not robbing me today, get lost. Then shoot the thief in the back. That might take care of the regular occurance of robbery.

I think they should have cameras at face level, top of his head/hat really won't tell us much.

I think they should hire a security officer.

An "Easy Mark" is a bank where you can walk in with a note demanding money, walk out with the cash in broad daylight and get away with it. If this guy isn't found, I'd think that this won't be the last time this particular bank will get robbed.

If JPD is lucky, he'll start bragging to his friends about how easy it was and the information will leak out from there.

Why do the police wonder why this bank is robbed so often? It is quite simple. That is where they keep the money.

There are other banks in that same stretch of Milton Avenue just as close (if not closer) to the Interstate. So no, probably not.

Isn't it simply because it's so close to the freeway?
