Spring is an opportune time for rural Rock County residents to test their wells.
Tim Banwell, the Rock County Health Department's Environmental Health Director, says a number of wells had some bacteria after last year's flooding. He says homeowners who chlorinated their water last year should test it again to make sure it stayed safe.
Banwell says 20 percent of the county's roughly 13,000 private wells could have high levels of bacteria.
This is National Groundwater Awareness Week.
