Area veterans may no longer need to drive to Madison for medical care.

Rock County Veterans Services Officer John Solis says the new VA Clinic on Morse Street in Janesville is much larger and more convenient than the one downtown. He says the need for local medical care has been growing as more veterans seek service, and the economy weakens. Veterans like Bob Updike of Edgerton know this very well. He's been driving other veterans to Madison for years. He calls the expanded size and location of the new clinic a relief.

The new clinic will eventually serve up to 3600 patients.
