Beloit officials attend League of Cities conference
Podcast Episode
Steve Benton reports on Beloit officials attending the National League of Cities conference in Washingtin D.C.
BELOIT Beloit City Manager, Larry Arft, says information gained at the National League of Cities latest conference will be invaluable to the city over the next two years. Arft, and the rest of the local delegation, attended the meeting last week.
Arft says several cabinet secretaries from President Barack Obama's administration gave presentations on money available through the Federal Stimulus program.
Arft was also able to talk to Congresswoman, Tammy Baldwin, and U.S. Senators, Herb Kohl and Russ Feingold, about potential funding for several Beloit projects, including the replacement of the old Henry Avenue Bridge. That project is slated for 2011 or 2012, according to Arft, and includes the replacement of the current two lane bridge with a four lane construction.
