— The Beloit school board is expected to reconsider adding a sex education component to the curriculum this year.

One of the issues that swept three Beloit school board candidates onto the board in the April elections was the lack of a sex education component in Beloit's curriculum. It's been missing for about five years and there was a significant spike in teen pregnancies this year.

School board president, Michael Ramsdail, says prior school boards couldn't agree on what type of information should be presented in the class, so it was put on the back burner.

Ramsdail says ignoring the issue is not the right way to handle it. While Ramsdail says budget constraints and welcoming a new superintendent to the district are top priorities right now, he expects the sex education issue to be handled this year.
