JANESVILLE—A Janesville man is in good condition at a Madison hospital after being struck Friday night by a driver believed to be intoxicated.
Joseph A. Johnston, 20, of 1214 W. Delavan Drive, Janesville, was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle north on Center Avenue in Janesville at 9:26 p.m. Friday.
Christine F. Raychel, 27, 2724 Omaha Dr., Janesville, was driving south on Center Avenue and attempted to turn left onto Racine Street. She failed to yield and struck Johnston, whose motorcycle flipped before landing on Racine Street, according to police reports.
Raychel fled the scene in her car, Lt. Keith Lawver said. She was apprehended at 408 S. Academy St., Janesville, according to police records.
She was arrested on a charge of causing great bodily injury by intoxicated use of a vehicle and hit-and-run causing injury, Lawver said.
Johnston was taken to Mercy Hospital, Janesville, and then flown to University Hospital, Madison.
