BELOIT — The Rock County Board seeks someone to fill a vacancy in the city of Beloit.
Chairman Russ Podzilni is accepting letters of interest to fill the District 12 seat vacated by Marshall Bown.
The person who is appointed would serve until April 2010.
District 12 includes city of Beloit wards 5-7. The district runs roughly along the western edge of the Rock River. It is bordered by Burton Street on the north, Cleveland Street on the west and Merrill Street on the south.
Bown was elected to the board in 2004 after running unopposed. He was the vice chairman of the education, veterans and aging services committee and a member of the human services board.
In his letter of resignation, Bown said he and his wife bought a home outside the district, Podzilni said. Bown's resignation was effective Thursday.
