Gladiators win preseason opener

— The Rock County Gladiators opened the 2009 preseason schedule Saturday night with a 12-0 win over the Northwest Wisconsin Wolverines at Monterey Stadium.

Rock County quarterback Danny Roberts, a Milton High graduate, scored the only touchdowns on runs of 13 and 84 yards. Roberts finished with 144 yards rushing and 117 yards passing.

Led by Linebackers Kyle Meinert, Deandre Harrell, Aaron Klingeman and Tyler Honeck, the Gladiator defense held the Wolverines under 80 total yards and only allowed 27 total yards in the 1st half.

The Gladiators host the Jay County Panthers (GIFL) ton Saturday night at Monterey with kickoff schedule for 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 for adults, $3 for ages 7-17 (under 15 must be accompanied by a paid adult) and 6-and-under free.

It was 12-6. I think the Wolverines put together a drive in the third quarter (maybe early 4th).
