Nicole Strieker kept the soccer season alive for Janesville Parker.

Strieker’s goal 17 seconds into the second overtime lifted the visiting Vikings to a 2-1 win over Mukwonago in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal game.

Parker (8-12-2) will play at top-seeded Kenosha Bradford at 1 p.m. Saturday.

The Vikings trailed 1-0 in the second half before Sam Witek tied the game at 69:12 on an assist from Brianne Michios. Neither team scored in the first 10-minute overtime before Strieker’s heroics won it for Parker in the second overtime.

“It was a great win for us,” Parker first-year coach Amy Wargowsky said. “I was really proud of the way we battled back to tie the game.

“Nicole’s goal in the second overtime was unbelievable. She dribbled around what seemed like about six players and lifted a shot into the far corner of the net.”

-- Park 2, Craig 1—An own goal is a tough way to lose your final game of the season.

That’s is what happened to the Janesville Craig High girls soccer team Thursday against Racine Park.

The fifth-seeded Panthers got past the 12th-seeded Cougars in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal match at Racine.

The score was tied at 1-1 after senior Megan Lindgren scored off assists by sophomore Chelsea Sheedy and senior Gretchen Westphal at the 57th minute.

But Park regained the lead just less than 10 minutes later when a Craig clearing attempt ended up in the Cougar goal. That goal stood up.

“It’s nobody’s fault,” Craig coach Bill McCabe said. “It just went in.

Emily Clark, the Panthers’ top player, scored just 4:56 into the game.
