WCLO's Steve Benton reports on the next step in the search for a new police chief in Beloit

RSS

— The Beloit Police and Fire Commission meets Wednesday to set a date for interviews and an assessment center for three police chief finalists.

Beloit's Human Resources Analyst, Joe Simpson, says the possible dates include Nov. 12, and some time during the following week. He says it's always difficult this time of year with the holidays so close.

Simpson described the assessment center as a "job simulation which is designed to give us an idea how the candidate will perform in the job." He says it will be conducted by an outside firm so they can get an unbiased opinion of the candidates.

The three finalists include Beloit's Deputy Chief, Norm Jacobs, Depere Police Chief, Derek Beiderwieden, and FBI special agent, Madison office, Thomas Trier.

The Commission would like to have the new chief in place before the end of the year.

Spelling Error - "Beloit Polie". Should be PoliCe. :) Kind of ironic though...
