The City of Janesville's financial credibility appears to be holding.
Assistant City Manager Jay Winzenz says Standard and Poor's annual bond rating for Janesville is AA-. He says this rating has not changed in recent years. Winzenz says the rating is importantt in helping keep interest rates down for loans the city uses to finance capital projects. The loss of General Motors doesn't appear to be a factor according to Winzenz.
When reviewing the city's financial health, Winzenz says Standard and Poor's bond ratings always took into account the city's major employer could suddenly close.
