RSS

— The Merrill Community Center in Beloit is celebrating its 20th anniversary.

Center Director, Regina Dunkin, says there will be an open house, including a special program, from 4 pm to 7 pm. Wednesday afternoon.

The Merrill Center focuses on kids, and it's main mission is to keep kids off the street and provide educational programming. The Center is also used as a meeting place, and for some senior citizen activities.

Beloit City Manager, Larry Arft will be one of the speakers during the program. Congratulatory messages from the Governor and Mrs. Doyle, and Assembly Majority leader, Mike Sheridan, will be read.

The Center opened its doors in 1989 in a building that once housed a grocery store on Park Avenue. A new, stand alone building, was built a few years ago and is located at 1428 Wisconsin Avenue.

The public is invited to the ceremony.
