Beloit College football’s Christensen earns D3 honors

— Andrew Christensen’s breakout game for Beloit College’s football team last Saturday has not gone unnoticed.

The 2008 Milton High graduatefrom Janesville, who scored four touchdowns in the Buccaneers 42-14 win over Knox College, has been named to the d3football.com Team of the Week. Christensen was also named the Midwest Conference Special Teams Player of the Week.

Christensen broke loose for 326 total yards, including a 69-yard punt return for a touchdown. He caught eight passes for 161 yards and a touchdown, and rushed three times for 15 yards and two touchdowns. Christensen and 2008 Edgerton High graduate Derek Carrier have combined for 34 receptions for 563 yards and three touchdowns in four games.

Beloit quarterback Brian Maughn, a sophomore from Sunrise, Fla., was named the Midwest Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Maughn finished with 373 yards passing and two touchdowns in the win over Knox.

Beloit (3-1, 2-1) will host Lake Forest College at 1 p.m. Saturday at Strong Stadium as the Bucs celebrate homecoming.
