WCLO's Steve Benton gives a progress report on the new Town of Beloit fire department headquarters building

RSS

— The completion date for the new Town of Beloit fire station on Afton Road is a month later than first announced, but progress is being made.

Fire Chief Dennis Ahrens says moral is high because firefighters can see the building going up. The new building is about double the size of the current headquarters. Not only are there seven service bays instead of the current three, but the living quarters and meeting rooms are also much larger and A.D.A. (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant.

Ahrens says they're planning a dedication ceremony when the building is completed, but a date for that hasn't been set yet.
