Craig, Parker soccer seasons end
A tough-luck season came to an end Tuesday night for the Janesville Craig boys soccer team.
Eric Howell scored off a free kick with just under three minutes to play to lift Stoughton to a 2-1 win over the Cougars in a WIAA Division 1 regional semifinal game.
Stoughton will play at Lake Geneva Badger on Thursday night, while Craig High finished at 7-12 overall.
“We were close on a couple of shots but couldn’t convert, and that was the story for us all season long,” Craig first-year coach Charles Friedrich said.
“But every team we played at home this year, whether they were ranked or not, they knew they were going to be in for a battle right down to the end. Hopefully, we can build off that. We’re still a pretty young team.”
Craig’s Jesse Davila tied the game on an unassisted goal in the 62nd minute, but the Vikings answered late on Howell’s goal off a free kick.

You can go back and look at all the old boy's polls by following the link below. Janesville Craig was never in the Top 10 this past fall. The score of the Milton game was 9-1 on madisonsoccercentral.com. I couldn't find an article to note otherwise.

We were number 9 after beating Green Bay Southwest to get up to 4-0, we fell out after losting to Beloit, and Milton was 7-1 not 9-1. One of the problems was Mike White and Peter Cooney hearing how much better Max was than them, it may have been true, but it wasn't a great confidence builder

Cougar - You guys had a nice start to the season, but at no time were you ever ranked in the Top 10. Your games against Beloit were close because of Max. He was an unbelievable goalie. Without him JC lost to an average Milton team 9-1 (the same team Beloit beat in the sectional semi). Losing Jesse and Max will really hurt next season.

I was on Craig's team this year, we started season 5-1, won Sauk Prarie Invite and lost only at Beloit on some questionable reffing and rose to 9th in state poll, then Max broke his ankle, then Mike White (backup keeper) hurt his knee, we lost some games we probly should have won (Stoughton, Madison East are examples), but its tough to win when you lose 4 starters to injuries and end up using 6 players as captains

Badger4Life - Craig's goalie, Max Niedermeier, hurt/broke an ankle and he didn't play the last handful of games. Max was a HUGE part of the Craig team and kept them in some games they had no business being in. When you lose one of the top 3 goalies in the conference it has an impact!

First time in over three years that Craig didn't get past the first round of the playoffs. Only 7 wins on the year with 3 vs Parker and 1 vs an Edgerton Club team. What happened the last 11 games?

Gonzalez - Parker wasn't going to beat Sun Prairie or Madison East this year. From a pure talent standpoint, I am not sure how they were able to stay within a goal of Craig everytime they played them. I hope that Parker starts to turn things around because it helps the entire southern part of the Big 8 in the respect area.

Beloit Guy- Great Job Beloit. Big Win. The hard work of many is finally paying off for them. Im not saying that Parker should have won any games, There is a big difference between winning and playing fundamental soccer. When you have a lower skilled team the goal should be to improve by the end of the season. Im not sure this happened. Not to blame the coach again but if you go into a game playing not to lose and hoping to maybe tie, you will never will win as many of the players constantly stated that the game plan was to try to tie. Its completely fine to lose all of your games if you had fun and improved throughout the season. I dont know if this happened and it is not the players fault. It starts with having a unified team. How many games did they have the same players on the field. WIth ineligibility they never seem to be all there. COngrats to the guys who stayed out there all season and gave it there all. They should have been able to play with teams like Jefferson, Sun Prairie, and East as well? Believe me, I am not knocking the players at all. I want the best for them.

FYI - Beloit Memorial won their game tonight 2-1 in over time to win their first regional championship in 10+ years. The records continue to fall for the Purple Knights who improved to 16-7-2 on the season!

Gonzalez - I'll ask you an honest question...do you think that Parker's talent level this year was good enough to beat the opponents they had on their schedule? If so, what teams? I understand getting your lunch handed to you is no fun but if you don't have the horses it is hard to win the race. Parker was able to rise up and play with Craig 3 times and I think Craig had some decent talent with Davila and Niedermeier.

Tough to throw the coach under the bus when a team goes 0-21 and gets outscored 116-6 in the process. Sounds like a bigger issue than just coaching. Running up the score is totally classless by Kenosha, especially since all the seedings have already been decided.

Beloit Guy, I get your point. 16-0 is outrageous and should never be allowed to happen, but it is the playoffs and asking a team to turn it on and off can be tough. I do think the pulling players off the field idea is more embarassing than losing 16-0. Then it comes down to even 4 players short we couldnt hang with them. Maybe the Tremper coach should take a lesson from the Madison Memorial Coach. he has always been good and leaving the opposing team with dignity. I think he was on the other end when he first started coaching so he knows what it feels like. I've seen him say only goals by headers, everyone must touch the ball before a shot, defense plays offense, and when the doesnt work just say no more goals, play keep away. I wasnt able to go to the game but looking at their past scores the guy who scored the 2nd and 15th goal is not a normal starter. A lot of coaches also will put the starters back in the last 10 minutes to get their rythem back since it is the playoffs. I really don't think the Parker players care who scored. The real question is, Parker Coaching. I talked with a couple of kids on the team and they said it is normal once they get behind by 4 or 5 for COach holmes to just give up and stop coaching. I know it is been a tough season but If the coach gives up the players surely well also. Good thing the players didnt and didnt give up all year. My hat goes off for the Parker players for sticking with it and giving their best even with no direction. The important thing is that they have fun. If not maybe time to talk with the AD about some changes. You got to stick with it. Look at Beloit after years of losing and losing its finally paying off. It takes a long long time to get it going in the right direction. It started almost 10 years with Coach Biesser, then Coach ALlen, and COach Kindshi and now is finally paying off with the new coach. Great Job!! B'town

When the kid that scores your 2nd goal also scores your 15th goal there is something wrong. Use your subs. If you don't have enough play your offense and defense and vice versa. Start pulling kids off the field so it is 11 v. 10 or 11 v. 9 or even 11 v. 8. Your team would gain a whole lot more under those circumstances!

They may be a good team, Andy. But 16-0 is classless. They haven't heard of one or two touch soccer? I see the Kenosha teams are as classless as they were years ago. We beat them 3-1 in Lynn Bird's Lake Geneva Badger tournament and they slashed the buses tires. Problem was they got the Cedarburg bus by mistake. Classless....and dumb.
