WCLO's Steve Benton reports on an Edgerton Hospital program designed to help kids who need to be at home without parents for short periods of time

RSS

— Edgerton Hospital is offering a "Home Alone" safety class Saturday, October 17th. The class is open to children ages nine and older who may be home alone for short periods of time without an adult.

The course provides children with resources they can use to feel confident and comfortable while they're at home alone.

Hospital spokesperson, Angie Sullivan, says topics covered during the class include injury prevention, basic first-aid, fire safety, stranger danger, and how to make healthy snacks without using the stove or microwave. Sullivan says they're also sensitive to the different needs of children living in both rural and urban settings.

The class, which is scheduled for 9:30 to 12:30 Saturday, still has openings. Interested persons should call Edgerton Hospital to get details and to register. The number is 608-844-1609. The cost is $20 and includes lunch.
